The Fall 2009 Clinical Schedule marks the second year on online collaboration between the three nursing schools and their nineteen clinical partners. The online schedule enables hospital staff and administrators, nurse educators and clinical coordinators instant access to the clinical schedule for their facility. This access enables better coordination of resources to meet the changing population of the healthcare facilities. The development of the online clinical schedule was funded by grants from the Northwest Auxiliary.
The online schedule offers four direct benefits:
- It is stored on a secure server with a back up.
- Google.doc features a single spreadsheet for each hospital and then tabs for each nursing school and month of that semester.
- A Chief Nursing Officer or supervisor can sign on and go directly to a secure “read only” page. The CNO can send a link or send the file for staff to store or print. The files are store and forward…more flexible and accessible. That way, a hospital can have files with all their information at hand – or go online and have access to the server database.
- Nursing Directors have pass-codes to change the schedule on the fly.
